  1. Butter a 9″x2″ cake pan or cast-iron skillet. (Do not use a springform cake pan for this cake, as the caramel will leak out of the sides). Line the pan with a circle of parchment paper. Prepare the pears in the bottom of the pan, a bit overlapping, with the details to the middle.

  6. Using a rubber spatula, pour the cake mixture above the pears and caramel. Carefully spread the batter evenly, currently being careful not to shift the pears too substantially.
  7. Bake for about 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the heart will come out cleanse.
  8. Get rid of the cake to a wire rack and permit it to cool for 20 minutes.  Operate a knife all-around the exterior of the cake. Area a plate upside down about the pan and invert the cake. Take out the parchment paper and provide.
